SPRING RETREAT
WOODSTOCK, VERMONT
MAY 19-21, 2023
Our 3-day Spring Retreat…
This year's retreat is all about restorative movement. Nestled on ten acres of land a short distance from the village of Woodstock, Vermont, our Spring Retreat location offers ample space to relax in solitude or explore the sites. Led by Rise Run Retreat founder Sarah Canney and co-host Annie Wagoner of Core Nourishment, the weekend will focus on the dance between ambition and radical rest. Annie, a yoga teacher, reiki practitioner, triathlete, and runner, will guide participants through gentle movement, including daily restorative and Yin yoga and breathwork sessions, while Sarah will lead a group run, sunrise hike and workshops on how to dream big without burning out. Take a moment slow down, honor your body's need for rest, and fill your cup so you’re ready for your next ambitious goal. This amazing experience is not to be missed.

Restorative Movement
Yin for Runners
The ability to be in and breathe through discomfort, stronger bones, and deep fascial release are all perks of making yin yoga a regular practice. If you’re a runner, yin is the ideal complement to your weekly interval training and long runs. Not only will it flush out tight areas as you hold postures for up to 5 minutes at a time, but it also builds mental strength and toughness to tackle adversity. This gentle practice will help wring out tension, release your hamstrings, hips, and spine, and nourish your body and soul.
Vinyasa Flow for Runners
Runners need recovery, mobility, and rest as well as tenacity and power. It’s a continuous dance between strength and ease, push and surrender, finding edges and honoring deeper messages (from within). Linking movement with breath, and targeting the glutes, quads, hamstrings, hip flexors, and calves, this playful flow is a wonderful one to come back to again and again. You will leave feeling stretched out, relaxed, nourished, and open, in both mind and body.
Breathwork for Runners
The manner in which we breathe has a lot to do with our athletic performance as well as our quality of life. Breathing powerfully, and correctly, impacts every system in the body: cardiovascular, nervous, endocrine, lymph, immune, digestive, and of course, respiratory. Breathing properly can decrease stress and muscle tension, calm our nerves, invite greater clarity and focus, minimize negative and distracting thoughts, reduce fatigue, and increase energy. Annie will guide you through a few different breathing techniques, which you can carry with you into your daily life, bring awareness to while running, and play with post-activity and/or before bed to help enhance your sleep.

The cancelation deadline for each retreat is 90-days before the retreat start date. Prior to the cancelation deadline, registered participants can receive a refund less a $500 non-refundable deposit. We believe that running is a transformative act for everyone who chooses to participate. We welcome runners of all ages and abilities. For group runs we divide into pace groups and make sure that no one runs alone. We believe that everyone belongs at Rise.Run.Retreat.
-
Group runs are anywhere from 3-6 miles on varied terrain. At each of our retreats, we plan for a combination of road, trail and rural dirt road runs. For those following a training plan, there are options to run longer when needed.
-
The biggest difference is the length of the retreat and the fact that our 3-day retreat does not feature outside guest speakers and is facilitated by Rise Run Retreat founder and host, Sarah Canney and Rise Run Retreat staff.

This varies based on our location, but typically the closest airports are
Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) Manchester, NH

The retreat does not provide transportation to and from the airport but assists attendees with coordinating carpool and rideshare with other attendees.
